What is the difference between polychromatic light and monochromatic light?   What is the difference between transmitted and reflected light?

Light and Colour Inquiry

Go to the wiki page and read looking for answers to questions to complete tasks. What are the two scientific kinds of light sources? How are they different? What measurements can you find?  Record them creatively on your page. What words and phrases describe what light can do? Draw a model of light. Inquiry tasks How is the spectrum formed with a prism? Draw or photograph and explain. Draw a rainbow- make sure the colours are in the right order ROYGBIV.   Explain how a rainbow forms. Use a mirror to reflect a beam of light from a torch and draw and explain what is happening.                                    How is each one the same or different?

Go to Kiwi Kids News - read 3-4 articles. Choose one to do a Thinking Task- see questions on whiteboard. Do on refill so it can go one wall. WALHT: summarise a news article- thinking about what is most important.

Light and colour reading

Choose a book to read from the light and colour - what can you find out about our topic? Look at the questions on the back wall.  Keep these in mind when you read. What questions do you have? Add to Padlet. Take note of any words that are a bit tricky- probably the scientific ones- has the book got a glossary? You need to use this. How will it help you? Write 2 important ones in your literacy book with a meaning or explanation. You can also go to the wiki and choose from the link to read- you must have head/ear phones to listen to video. Read from 3 different sources and do a 321 on one reading source- not a video.WALHT:  read scientific text and identify main ideas and important ideas formulate good questions  do research to answer our questions from a range of sources

Friday Night Out   1.        Read story listing any words you do not know and/or 5 good words.   2.        Copy a piece of dialogue from the text- two people speaking at least twice- LG Writing speech correctly.   3.        Identify how many ways light is use in story.   4.        Can you retell the story.  Include the main parts only. Tell it with a partner – taking turns.
